A2P 10DLC registration

A2P 10DLC is the registration US carriers require before a business can send texts from a local 10-digit number. “A2P” means application-to-person: texts sent through a service like SimpleVox rather than from a personal phone. Carriers use it to check that a real business is behind the texts.

You need it to send texts from a SimpleVox local number. Every number receives texts either way.

Registration lives in Settings → Trust Center, under Carrier registration.

  • The billing owner fills it in, pays the fee and submits it, because it’s charged to the card on your subscription.
  • Admins can see its status and progress, but not the answers. Before it’s submitted, they see “Your billing owner can register your numbers to send texts.”
  • Members don’t see the Trust Center. A number’s Texting status on its General tab tells them whether it can send.

You register once for the whole business.

The first question is whether your business has a tax ID: an EIN in the US, or a Business Number in Canada.

With a tax ID Without a tax ID (sole proprietor)
Numbers that can send All your numbers, including ones you add later One number you choose
Daily texts You say whether you’ll send up to 6,000 a day or more Up to 3,000 a day, 1,000 of them to T-Mobile
You’ll need Your EIN or Business Number, legal business name and address, and a public website A US or Canadian address and a mobile number from a regular carrier
STIR/SHAKEN and caller ID names Available once approved Not available

Your other numbers still receive texts on the sole proprietor path. They just can’t send.

  1. Go to Settings → Trust Center and choose Register now under Carrier registration.

  2. Answer Do you have a business tax ID number? The answer decides which questions follow.

  3. Work through each page. Every page has Save as draft, so you can stop and come back with Continue registration.

    • With a tax ID: business registration number, business details from your tax documents, additional business details (including your website and how many texts a day), a point of contact, what you’ll text about, how people agree to your texts, and forbidden message topics.
    • Without a tax ID: your details and mobile number, your address, how you’ll use texting, 2 to 5 sample messages, how people agree to your texts, the number that sends texts, and forbidden message topics.
  4. On Confirm registration fee, check the one-time fee and choose Pay and submit.

The Carrier registration section shows where you are. Carriers review four parts, each with its own status under Reviews: Payment, Business profile, Brand and Campaign. Review usually takes a few days and can take longer. The page updates on its own as carriers respond.

Trust Center with an approved registration: payment, business profile, brand and campaign reviews, and numbers that can send

Once you’re Approved, the Numbers list shows each number as Adding, then Can send. From then on you can send texts from those numbers. The billing owner can open Submitted details to see what was sent to carriers.

  • Sole proprietors: reply YES. Carriers text the mobile number you gave. The status shows Action needed until you reply YES. Choose Send a new text if it didn’t arrive.
  • Card declined. Nothing is submitted until payment goes through. Choose Pay, Try my card again or Update card.
  • Not approved. The page lists what carriers objected to. Choose Fix and resubmit, correct your answers and submit again. Carriers treat a resubmission as a new registration, so the fee may apply again. The page tells you before you pay.
  • Suspended. Sending is paused, but you still receive texts. Choose Contact support.
  • With support. Our team is looking into it and will be in touch. There’s nothing to resubmit.

With a tax ID, your details must match what’s on file with the IRS or the Canada Revenue Agency:

  • Your legal business name, exactly as on your tax documents, including LLC or Inc.
  • The correct EIN or Business Number. Use an EIN issued at least 30 days ago. Newer EINs can’t be verified yet.
  • Your business address.

A mismatch is one of the most common reasons carriers reject a registration.

Your website must be live, public and clearly yours. Sites that are under construction or behind a login are rejected.

Sole proprietors: use a real mobile number

Section titled “Sole proprietors: use a real mobile number”

Carriers confirm your identity by texting your mobile number. It must be a mobile from a regular carrier, not an internet phone number and not your SimpleVox number.

Write sample messages that say who’s texting

Section titled “Write sample messages that say who’s texting”

Each sample should name your business and end with opt-out wording, for example:

Hi, it’s Amy from Example Plumbing. Your appointment is April 1 at 10am. Reply STOP to unsubscribe.

You’ll pick how customers opt in, and SimpleVox suggests the wording to use. Any of these can work, as long as it’s what you actually do:

  • Verbal consent: in person or over the phone. “Can I text you when the tech is on the way?”
  • Written consent: an email or paper form.
  • Digital consent: an online form, in-app, at the point of sale or by QR code.
  • Text to subscribe: customers text a keyword such as JOIN to sign up.

Carriers want an SMS privacy policy. Choose Create one for me and SimpleVox publishes an SMS privacy policy and terms page for your business when you submit, showing your business name, address (city only for sole proprietors), email and texting number. Or choose I’ll use my own and give its web address.

Carriers block texts about high-risk loans and crypto, lead generation, debt collection, prescription drugs, cannabis and other federally illegal products, gambling, and sex, hate, alcohol, firearms and tobacco. You’ll confirm you won’t send them.

Registration has a one-time fee for carrier review and setup. The app shows the exact amount on Confirm registration fee before you pay. It depends on your path: without a tax ID, or with a tax ID at up to 6,000 or more than 6,000 texts a day.

  • It’s charged to the card on your subscription.
  • Monthly campaign fees are included.
  • Fees are non-refundable once submitted to carriers.
  • Retrying the same submission doesn’t charge you again. A resubmission that carriers treat as new needs a new payment.
