Port your number
Porting moves a phone number from one provider to another, so your customers keep dialling the number they already know. You can bring your business number to SimpleVox.
Carriers take a little time to move a number, so you don’t have to wait for it. Start on a temporary SimpleVox number today, and switch over as soon as the move is complete.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Keep your current service active. Don’t cancel with your current carrier until the move is complete. Cancelling usually releases the number, and a released number may be gone for good.
- Have your account details ready. Your current carrier checks that the number is yours before it lets it go. They usually ask for the account holder’s name and service address exactly as they appear on the account, the account number, and the account PIN or port-out passcode. Many mobile carriers make you request a port-out PIN first. A recent bill has most of this on it.
- Use the business’s details. The name on the request has to match the name on the account with your current carrier.
Bring your number
Section titled “Bring your number”-
Email support@simplevox.net with the number you want to bring and the carrier it’s with. We’ll tell you what we need and handle the move with your carrier.
-
While the move is in progress, add a number to use in the meantime. Set up its call routing, invite your team and start making calls from it.
-
Keep your current service running. Calls and texts to your number keep reaching your current provider until the move is complete.
-
When the move is complete, calls and texts to your number come in to SimpleVox. Check the number’s call flow, then call it from another phone to make sure it rings the right people.
If you don’t need the temporary number once your own number has moved, you can delete it. See Delete or restore a number.
Texting from your number
Section titled “Texting from your number”Receiving texts works as soon as the number is with SimpleVox. Sending texts from a local number needs an approved carrier registration (10DLC) with the number attached. Start it early, while the move is in progress. See A2P 10DLC registration.
Moving a SimpleVox number somewhere else
Section titled “Moving a SimpleVox number somewhere else”If you’re leaving SimpleVox and want to take a number with you, email support@simplevox.net before you delete the number or cancel your plan. A deleted number is released 14 days after you delete it, and numbers on a plan that has ended are released after a hold. Once a number is released, it can’t be recovered. See Change or cancel your plan.
