Connect ChatGPT

Connect SimpleVox to ChatGPT and work your calls and customers from a chat. ChatGPT adds SimpleVox as a custom MCP server and uses your own SimpleVox sign-in, with only the permissions you give it.

  • A SimpleVox account in a workspace, with access to at least one number.
  • A ChatGPT plan and workspace that let you add a custom MCP server. OpenAI decides which plans include this. On Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces, an admin or owner may need to add SimpleVox or allow you to.
  • ChatGPT on the web. You add custom servers there.
  • The SimpleVox server address: https://my.simplevox.app/mcp. It’s also on Settings → Integrations in SimpleVox, with a Copy button.
  1. In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins.

  2. Choose +, then Add custom MCP server.

  3. Enter a name, such as SimpleVox, and a short description like “Business calls, voicemail, texts and contacts.”

  4. For the connection, use the public server URL https://my.simplevox.app/mcp.

  5. For authentication, choose OAuth. Leave client ID and secret empty if ChatGPT offers them: SimpleVox registers ChatGPT automatically.

  6. Review ChatGPT’s warning about custom servers and continue, then create it.

  7. When ChatGPT opens SimpleVox, sign in if you’re asked to. Check the consent screen: the workspace and email shown are yours, and the Redirect URI is a chatgpt.com address.

  8. Choose what it can do. Tick any permissions you want under Also allow it to, and choose All numbers you can access or Only the numbers I choose. Then choose Authorize. See Choose what each connection can do.

Start a new chat, type @ in the message box and choose SimpleVox. Then ask a question:

What’s the latest with Mary? Link me to the calls you used.

If you gave the connection more permissions, ChatGPT can act too:

Call Mary back.

Before approving an action, read Control and safety. ChatGPT may also ask you to approve an action before it runs.

For call setup, see Assisted calls. For more ideas, see example prompts.

Remove SimpleVox from ChatGPT’s plugin settings to stop using it there. You can also choose Disconnect next to it on Settings → Integrations in SimpleVox. That stops access straight away, even if ChatGPT still lists SimpleVox.

  • Sign-in fails or loops. Check the URL is exactly https://my.simplevox.app/mcp, with no slash at the end, and that you chose OAuth with no client ID. Remove SimpleVox from ChatGPT and add it again. If it still fails, email support@simplevox.net.
  • ChatGPT doesn’t use SimpleVox. Choose SimpleVox with @ in the chat, or mention it by name: “Use SimpleVox to check who called today.”
